North Of The Border is a DVD series that has taken seven years of work to produce. Filmed by Andrew Dalziel, predominantly in Aberdeenshire in the North East and in Dumfriesshire in the west of Scotland, the mixture of arable and stock farming gives a fascinating and truly eye opening window into agriculture in this part of the world. Focusing on several different farms and contractors in these two areas, plus many other items of machinery seen at work, these DVDs are a must for any enthuisast of both classic and modern farm machinery. In Part 3 - Grassmania - we are well and truly into silage season as we travel through June and into July. We see some really amazing giant modern choppers in action as well as some more sedate trailed choppers behind a variety of tractor, including County machines as we once again visit the working silage day held by the Scottish County Tractor Owners Club. We visit the usual farms and contractors we have been following in this series as well as meet some new ones, including silage bale making with a fleet of classic Massey Ferguson tractors. As July continues we see a tentative start made on harvesting winter barley and this gives us the opportunity to see modern Claas combines, plus a very classic Massey Ferguson 625 Super II, working away. Above all, though, this DVD is about the grass!
