Tractors built between 1960 and 2000 are commonly referred to today as Classic Tractors and this programme is dedicated to the machines of these four decades. During those years many innovations that are taken for granted on modern machines were developed, such as safety cabs, four wheel drive, quiet cabs, synchromesh gearboxes, electronic management systems, powerfshift transmissions and finally computer control.
By looking at tractors from the main manufacturers hard at work in the fields, this programme aims to show these innovations as well as prove that these tractors, despite their growing age, still hold a place working in modern agricuklture.
Special features include a look at three working classics on a Sussex farm as well as some of the action from the 2010 British National Ploughing Championships held near Lincoln where ploughmen used a wide variety of classic machines in the competition and demonstration plots.
Many different makes and models are inlcuded in this programme and whatever your paticular interest, be it older classics, machines from the 1970s and 80s, or the modern classics from the last decade of the 21st Century, you will find something here to bring back memories in a veritable feast of classic tractor action!
